a secret one to hug

Een blogpost in het Engels vandaag, want…

My international blogfriends and I teamed up for a top secret fellowship (I sò wanted to use this word #LOTRfan). A fellowship of sewers to welcome Sara’s newborn baby boy. Sara is one of the Sew Social girls, but because I had to miss out on the first Sew Social in Paris and Sara had to skip the second one in London, we never met in real life. Nevertheless, I knòw for sure that I would like her just by looking at her blog header. Oh yes, I’m a floral kinda girl.

Anyway. Victoria had the fantastic idea of doing a secret blogtour today to welcome Sara’s fourth baby. Sara hasn’t got a clue to what’s going on, so hopefully she will be overwhelmed by all our eighteen (!) blogposts showing off our handsewn baby gifts.

I didn’t have to think twice about what I was going to make. The baby coat One To Hug by Mind The Whale has been an absolute success every single time I’ve given it as a present. It’s pretty and practical at the same time. And those fluffy bear’s ears, let’s be honest: aren’t they the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?

I used a burgundy diamond print fabric by Aime Comme Marie (bought at Petite Couture a while ago) and a thick dark grey teddy fleece for the lining. Really, this is the softest baby coat you’ll ever feel. If I could, I squeezed myself in it for the rest of the winter.

That said, Sara lives in Portugal. I’m not sure Portuguese winters are cold enough for this much fluffy cosiness… Ofcourse I only thought of that when the coat was finished.

  1. Ooooh zo schattig. Toen ik in Portugal op reis was enkele winters geleden droegen ze daar winterjassen bij temperaturen die wij veel te warm vinden. Dus het zal wel van pas komen ?.

  2. This is an absolutely perfect pressie for a baby. A friend of mine made one of these jackets for my baby before she was borne, and she wore it nearly every day last winter. So soft and comfy! I am sure Sara's little boy will feel comfy and warm in his also 🙂

  3. Schattig, lief, zacht jasje. Ik zou rose voor een jongen heel erg leuk vinden, maar vinden ze dat in Portugal ook? Of denken ze meteen dat het een meisje is?
